Why This One?
This isn’t a replica or a clone; it’s the original GLOCK P80, the first-generation prototype that started it all. It’s a piece of firearms history you can actually build and shoot. In our hands, the build quality is solid. We’ve inspected multiple units and found no visible tooling marks or rough edges. The finish is consistent, and the overall feel is exactly what you’d expect from the original design. Our staff’s observation has been consistent: “Drop-in fit on every frame we tested. No fitting required.” This isn’t just marketing talk; it’s what we’ve seen on the bench. For enthusiasts who appreciate authenticity and a straightforward build, this is the foundation.

Honest Assessment
After handling this product and gathering feedback from the 21 buyers who have given it a 4.7/5 satisfaction rating, here’s my direct take.
Pros ✅
- Authentic History: You are holding and building the exact design that started the GLOCK revolution.
- Proven Reliability: The design foundation is rock-solid. Our customers report flawless function when built correctly.
- Excellent Fit: As noted, our testing showed drop-in compatibility with standard Gen 1-3 parts. No filing or sanding was needed on the units we assembled.
- Collectible Value: This is a legitimate piece for a serious collection, not just a shooter.
- Solid Construction: The quality is there. We found no defects in the units we’ve inspected and sold.
Cons ❌
- Price: It’s a premium item. You’re paying for history and authenticity, not just a functional pistol.
- Lacks Modern Features: No front slide serrations, no rail, no modular backstraps. It’s the 1980s original.
- Parts Specificity: While it fits standard parts, sourcing exact Gen 1 components (like specific trigger bars) can be a hunt compared to Gen 3 parts.
Who Should / Shouldn’t Buy
Buy this if: You are a GLOCK historian or serious collector who values owning the original. You want an authentic, no-compromise Gen 1 build. You appreciate the simplicity and historical significance of the initial design. You’ve built other P80-style frames and want the real deal.
Skip this if: Your primary goal is a budget-friendly, feature-rich daily carry pistol. You prefer the latest Gen 5 enhancements like the Marksman Barrel or ambidextrous controls. You are looking for the most economical way to get a functional 9mm pistol.
Q & A
Is this a complete pistol or a frame?
This is a complete, serialized GLOCK P80 GEN 1 pistol. It is not an 80% frame or a parts kit. It is a factory-produced firearm.
What generation parts are compatible?
It is compatible with most GLOCK Gen 1 through Gen 3 components. In our testing, slides, barrels, and internal parts kits from those generations dropped in without issue. Some very early Gen 1 specific parts (like the smooth face trigger) are correct for this model.
Does it have a rail for a light?
No. The original P80/GLOCK 17 Gen 1 design did not include an accessory rail. The frame is smooth at the front of the trigger guard.
Where can I buy GLOCK online?
You can purchase this GLOCK P80 GEN 1 directly from our shop, Polymer80Shop, based in Cedar City, UT. We ship nationwide to licensed FFL dealers.
How does it shoot compared to a modern GLOCK?
The fundamental shooting experience is very similar—it’s a GLOCK. The main differences you’ll feel are the classic grip texture (or lack thereof) and the trigger, which is the original Safe Action design. Our customers who have built and shot them report the same reliability as any other GLOCK.
Is it a good choice for a first-time builder?
It can be, due to the drop-in fit we’ve observed. However, because of its collectible value and price, many first-timers might prefer to learn on a standard Polymer80 frame. If you are meticulous and understand the value of what you have, it’s a straightforward build.
What’s included in the box?
It comes as the complete pistol from the factory. This includes the serialized P80 frame, slide, barrel, recoil spring assembly, and one magazine. All standard factory paperwork is included.
